إن ذكريات شوكت غاوجي المنشورة هنا في هذا الكتاب كُتبت في وقت متأخِّر، بعد تخطي صاحبها السبعين من العمر على الأقل، وفي وقت مستقطَع لأن صاحبها عايش الكثير من الأحداث المتعلِّقة بالصِّلات الألبانية السورية الجديدة في القرن العشرين.، وهي الذكريات تساعد على تعرُّف مفاصلَ رئيسة في الصِّلات الألبانية السورية على مدى ربع قرن من الزمن على الأقل، وكان صاحبها شاهداً على تلك الصِّلات ومشاركاً فيها.
إن هذه الذكريات تفتح الطريق لتوثيق الصِّلات الألبانية العربية في القرن العشرين وتأريخها بشكل خاص لِما لذلك من أهمية بالنسبة للطرفين، حيث إن بلاد الشام تحتضن الآن أكبر جالية ألبانية في المشرق، حيث يُقدّر عدد أبنائها الآن بحوالي عشرة آلاف شخص، وهي في حدّ ذاتها شاهد حي على الصِّلات الألبانية العربية في القرن العشرين التي تستحقّ منّا جميعاً أن نرعاها وأن نطوِّرها لصالح العلاقة التاريخية بين الطرفين.
"يسعدني الان، وبعد أن اكتمل هذا الكتاب وأصبح ماهو عليه، أن أعبر عن سروري بصدُور هذا العمل الوثائقي في الوقت الذي تتجدّد فيه العلاقات بين ألبانيا والبلاد العربية بعد انقطاع دام عدة عقود. فقد كانت العلاقات الدبلوماسية في الحد الادنى في النصف الثاني للقرن العشرين، حين كانت تقتصر على سفارتين لألبانيا في القاهرة والجزائر فقط، بينما كانت العلاقات مع الدول الاخرى شبه مقطوعة الى أن انهار النظام الشمولي في ألبانيا في سنة 1992، وافتتحت أول سفارة ألبانية في المملكة العربية السعودية في كانون الاول 1994 ..."
