"هل تسمحون لي؟" سؤال تتوجه به الكاتبة والصحافية الكويتية "دلع المفتي" إلى من يهمه الأمر، تُعبِّر به عن مواقف جادة في قالب انتقادي ساخر. وفي هذا العمل مرايا تعكس مظاهر فاسدة، فردية، وجماعية منها ما يطفو على السطح، ومنها ما يتوارى خلف الأقنعة، تتقاطع مكوناتها مع صور الحياة المتعددة، الكثير منها مضحك، ولكن، في عمقه بكاء وتألم عميق. إنها الحياة بتعقيداتها، بوجوهها، وأقنعتها، تعيد دلع المفتي إنتاجها عبر نصوص تتقرى بها واقعنا العربي، بجميع مظاهره وتمفصلاته بلغة تلقائية، ومباشرة، صادقة، وغير مزخرفة تنعي بها "بلاد يُغتال فيها المفكرون ويكفر الكتاب وتحرق الكتب. في مجتمعات ترفض الآخر، وتفرض الصمت على الأفواه والحجر على الأفكار، وتكفر أي سؤال، كان لا بد أن أستأذنكم، أن تسمحوا لي.. فهل تسمحون لي أن أربي أطفالي كما أريد وألا تملوا عليّ أهوائكم وأوامركم؟ هل تسمحون لي أن أعلّم أطفالي أن الدين لله أولاً، وليس للمشايخ والفقهاء والناس؟ - هل تسمحون لي أن أعلم صغيرتي أن الدين هو أخلاق وأدب وتهذيب وأمانة وصدق قبل أن أعلّمها بأي قدم تدخل الحمام وبأي يد تأكل؟ هل تسمحون لي أن أعلّم ابنتي أن الله محبة، وأنها تستطيع أن تحاوره وتسأله ما تشاء بعيداً عن تعاليم أي أحد؟ هل تسمحون لي أن أعلّم أولادي أن أفضل طريقة للتقرب من الله هي محبته لا الخوف منه؟ هل تسمحون لي ألا أذكر عذاب القبر لأولادي، الذين لم يعرفوا ما هو الموت بعد؟ (...) وأخيراً هل تسمحون لي أن أعلّم أولادي أن الله أكبر وأعدل وأرحم من كل فقهاء الأرض مجتمعين؟ وأن مقاييسه تختلف عن مقاييس المتاجرين بالدين، وأن حساباته أحن وأرحم؟ فهل تسمحون لي..؟
