"استعن بالصور لاستخلاص المعاني"، ولا تقوم بعملية ترجمة المعنى إلى اللغة الأم، لأن ذلك "في هذه المرحلة يعوق عملية التعلّم ويزيدها صعوبة".
"ركزّ على صفحتين أو صفحات ثلاث في كل مرّة، حتى تتمكن من وضع الجمل المناسبة لكل صورة"، و"اجتهد لتفهم معنى الصور بالإنكليزية. هكذا تتدرب على التفكير "بهذه اللغة، وتلك هي الطريقة الفُضلى لإتقان اللغة".
"بعد دراستك ثلاثين صفحة من الكتاب بهذه الطريقة اختبر قدراتك في الإجابة بالإنكليزية عن الأسئلة الواردة" في صفحات الكتاب، وبعد ذلك قارن إجابتك بالإجابات الصحيحة الواردة لاحقاً.
