«الأريكة البشرية وقصص أخرى» العنوان الذي اختاره خليفة هزاع لكتاب يضم مجموعة قصص الكاتب الياباني الأشهر في قصص الغموض وهو إدوغاوا رانبو (1894-1965) الذي قدم للأدب الياباني مخزوناً كبيراً من القصص والروايات ما بين الغامض والخيالي والغرائبيّ والشنيع، فكان أول من كتب القصة البوليسية، وأول من أدخل المتحرّي الخاصّ إلى البيئة اليابانية.
ينطوي هذا الكتاب على مجموعة قصص من تأليف إدوغاوا رانبو ومنها أول قصة بوليسية يابانية، "عملة نحاسية من فئة السنين". والسن هنا هو جزء من مائة من الين الياباني، بالإضافة إلى ثلاثة قصص هي: "الأريكة البشرية" و"اليسروع" و"جحيم المرايا" التي أدرجها المترجم في الملحق.
عن أجواء القصص وزمانها ومكانها يخبرنا مترجم الكتاب في المقدمة التي افتتح بها المجموعة، أنه "في عام 1939، وبعد عامين من اندلاع الحرب الثانية ما بين الصين واليابان، أوصت الرقابة الحكومية بمنع نشر قصة اليسروع - التي كانت قد نُشرت بلا منغصات قبل ذلك بعامين - في مجموعة قصصية لرانبو. وقصة اليسروع هذه تحكي عن جندي بُترت أطرافه الأربعة، وشوهته الحرب حتى لم يعد أكثر من يسروع بشريّ، لا يستطيع كلاماً ولا حراكاً ولا حياةً لوحده. وقد منعت الرقابة القصة ظناً منها، فيما يبدو، أنها ستنتقص من جهادهم الراهن. وقد حلَّ هذا الخبر على رانبو - الذي كان يعتمد على العوائد من نشر قصصه كمصدر دخله الوحيد - حلول العاصفة. غير أن المنع رُفِع عنها بعد أن وضعت الحرب أوزارها.
فيما عدا هذه القصص الأربع تبرز قصتان، ألا وهما «ظهور أوسيه» و«المتلصّص الذي في العلّية»، وسبب بروزهما هو كالعادة غرابة الموقف الذي وضع فيه بطلاهما. كما وأن ثاني هاتين القصتين يظهر فيهما المتحري الياباني الأول والأشهر كوغورو أكِتشي، بالإضافة إلى ظهوره في قصة أخرى من قصص هذه المجموعة هي «الاختبار النفسي». هذا وتضم هذه المجموعة قصصاً أخرى من أدب الشناعة والغرائبيات والغموض والخيال.
