ثمة محاولة لتحويل إمكانيات السرد إلى وظائف للسجال، والتكييف، والتلاعب الصوري، والحواري في مجموعة القاص "مصطفى علي هيج" المعنونة "الأرصفة لا تستمع إلى الموسيقى"، وذلك بالانطلاق من فعل التوجيه، بوصفه آلية فاعلة تتيح للمؤلف وهو يقف على حافتي الواقع الفعلي والواقع الفني أن يؤسس بناءً قصصياً متساوقاً مع رؤيته الفنية وتوجهه الأيديولوجي. وهو ما نعثر عليه في المشاهد الحوارية الصريحة في القصة التي يفتتح بها المؤلف مجموعته "جوع" وما ينطوي عليها مضمونها من تمثيلات صورية تكرس سيطرة قوى الأمر الواقع على الضعفاء، حيث يشكل الجوع والبحث عن بقايا طعام بين الفضلات الهاجس لدى شخصيات القصة، وبالتالي لا يكون القصد هنا إبراز الأصوات الروائية بقدر ما يتعلق الأمر ببنيات ذهنية/سياسية تسيطر على شرائح اجتماعية عريضة وتحاول إخضاعها لها بجوعها.
يضم الكتاب اثنا عشر قصة قصيرة جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "جوع"، "موت أقل"، "رنين"، "الأرصفة لا تستمع إلى الموسيقى"، "بياض"، "مفقود"، "ليالي الأرصفة"، "النظارة"، "وجوه لا أعرفها"، "يد وثلاثة أصابع"، "يتنفس الجدار"، "مطر".
