كان الحادث جللًا، فاجتمع باقي الجنود وأمسكوا بـ «بن القرَّاد»، وأوسعوه ضربًا، فلمَّا أفلت الجنديُّ الضَّخم من ضربات «بن القرَّاد»، وهمَّ واقفًا على قدميه، نظر إليه في غضب متفاقم، ثمَّ نظر إلى «نبهان»، وأحكم خناقه على رقبته، فكان واضحًا أنَّهما صديقان أو رفيقان في الجريمة، ففكَّر قليلًا، ثمَّ وضع القرد أرضًا، ووطئ بطنه بباطن قدمه، فثبَّته بلا حراك على الأرض. أطلق «نبهان» صوت عويل الألم من قوَّة وطأة الجنديِّ فوقه، ثمَّ نظر إلى صاحبه «بن القرَّاد» في خوف، ورجاء أخير أن ينقذه من الجنديِّ المخبول، بينما كان «بن القرَّاد» على الجهة المقابلة من الطَّريق، يسبُّهم، ويحاول الإفلات من باقي الجنود، يصرخ هو الآخر دون جدوى، إلَّا أنَّ الجنديَّ الضَّخم أزاح بندقيَّته من فوق كتفه اليسرى، فوجَّهها إلى رأس «نبهان»، وأطلق عليه النَّار، فأرداه قتيلًا.
