يقدم هذا الكتاب أسرار فوتوغرافية من أحد أهم المصورين الرقميين المحترفين في العالم. إنه "جوماكنالّي" مصور المجلات الأسطوري والذي ظهرت أعماله على صفحات أهم المجلات العالمية مثل "الألعاب الرياضية المصورة"، و"تايم"، و"ناشيونال جيوغرافيك"، يشقّ هنا طريقاً جديداً بتحقيق ما لم يحققه أي كتاب عن التصوير الفوتوغرافي من قبل. وذلك عبر المزج بين الصور الفنية المذهلة والإخراج الرائع لكتاب يصلح للقراءة في غرفة الجلوس، وبين المادة التدريبية الثمينة، والتبصر الجاد، والأسرار الفوتوغرافية التي لا يمكن العثور عليها عادة إلا في أفضل الكتب التعليمية وأندرها. عندما لا يكون جو في مهمة لصالح إحدى أشهر وأكبر المجلات أو إحدى الشركات الكبرى المدرجة على قائمة مجلة "فورتشن" للشركات الـ 500 الكبرى، فستجده في قاعة التدريس يعلّم الطلاب تقنيات إضاءة موقع التصوير، وتصوير البورتريه ضمن البيئة المحيطة، وكيفية "اصطياد اللقطة"، وذلك في ورشات تعليمية تجوب العالم. وهذه الورشات الميدانية مكرسة عادة لحفنة من المصورين كل سنة، لكنك تستطيع الآن تعلّم التقنيات نفسها التي يقدّمها جو في حلقاته الدراسية وفي محاضراته، في هذا الكتاب. إن ما يجعل هذا الكتاب فريداً جداً هو "مثلث التعلم" حيث (1) يقطّر جو المفهوم ويختزله في جملة قصيرة واحدة. وهو يبدأ عادة بعبارة مثل: "قال محرّري في ناشيونال جيوغرافيك مرة.."، ويقدم بعد ذلك لمستمعيه إحدى حيل المهنة وأسرارها.. ثم (2) تجد على الصفحة المقابلة إحدى صور جو الرائعة التي تشرح بشكل مثالي التقنية موضوع الحديث و(ستتعرف على العديد من صوره التي نشرت على أغلفة المجلات). و(3) ستطلع على القصة الخفية التي تروي كيف أخذت تلك اللقطة، بما في ذلك الأجهزة التي استُخدمت (فتحة العدسة، الإضاءة، الملحقات، إلخ...) بالإضافة إلى التحديات المرتبطة بكل نوع من المشاريع، وكيف تُجَهز بنفسك ما يلزم لالتقاط صورة مثلها. يقدم هذا الكتاب أيضاً المزيد. فهو يلهمك. ويتحداك. ويعلمك. لكن الأكثر أهمية ربما، هو أنه سيساعدك على فهم التصوير الفوتوغرافي وإجادة فن التقاط الصور العظيمة من مستوى لم تكن تعتقد أنه ممكن. هذا الكتاب مكتظ بتلك اللحظات التي لن تجد فيها ما تقوله سوى "آه ها!"؛ تلك الإشراقات الذكية التي تشرح وتفسّر لك كل شيء. يضعك هذا الكتاب في خضم تلك اللحظة الرائعة، حين يتبين فجأة مغزى كل شيء، "لحظة التقاط الصورة.. كليك".
