انخراط فتغنشتاين في هذا التوجه النقدي للغة، حيث رأى أن الحذر من النحو هو أولى ضرورات التفلسف، لأن اللغة التي نستخدمها في حياتنا الفكرية تخفي الفكر، ولا تكشف بوضوح عن الصورة المنطقية الحقيقية لعباراتها، لذلك فقد كان "راسل" على صواب عندما فرق بين الصورة النحوية للجملة وصورتها المنطقية الحقيقية. لكن فتغنشتاين لا يذهب بعيداً في هذا الاتجاه النقدي للغة العادية الذي بدأه "فريج" و"راسل" فمع أن اللغة العادية هي مصدر للغموض في كثير من الأحيان، ومع أننا نحتاج فعلاً إلى لغة رمزية، لكن ليس على نموذج "فريج" ولا على نموذج "راسل"، لأن هذين النموذجين لم يتمكنا تفادي كل الأخطاء. ومن جهة أخرى إن اللغة العادية في نظام على الحالة التي هي عليها. وهذا ما جعل فتغنشتاين يرى أنه: "ليس من الضروري أن نخترع "لغة مثالية" من أجل رسم الواقع لغتنا العادية هي صورة منطقية، ويكفي فقط أن نعرف الطريقة التي تدل بها كل كلمة". لذلك فإنه بعكس "فريج" و"راسل" رأى فتغنشتاين أن الأيديوغرافيا ليست لغة، ومن ثم فلا يمكنها أن تحل محل اللغة، وما هي إلا أداة من أجل البحث عن ماهية التمثيل التي هي حاضرة في كل اللغات وفي كل رمزية. هذا الرأي، رأى فيه "هاكر" أبرز ما اختلف به فتغنشتاين عن "فريج" و"راسل". إذن فتغنشتاين في نقده للغة العادية لا يتبع طريق "فريج" ولا "طريق راسل" إلى نهايته، ولكنه يترك هذا الطريق في منتصفه، ليتخذ لنفسه طريقاً آخر حيث ينقد اللغة من داخل اللغة ذاتها، وهذا فارق نوعي بين موقف الرسالة من اللغة العادية، وبين موقف كل من "فريج" و"راسل".
