يدرس الباحث الدكتور "محمود سعادة" في كتابه العلمي "كوكب الأرض–الهزات الأرضية وعلاقتها بالقمر والشمس"، ظاهرة طبيعية وعلمية في آن معاً، وهي الهزات الأرضية وكيفية حدوثها وأنواعها، أيضاً يبحث في ظاهرة البراكين ويقدم أسباباً علمية لحدوثها، إضافة إلى موضوع الجاذبية الأرضية وعلاقتها بعملية المد والجزر. ويحدد الأسباب الرئيسية لوقوع الهزات الأرضية وانفجار البراكين: "تبقى نابعة من باطن الأرض، وتحديداً نتيجة لتراكم الحرارة والضغط مما يؤدي إلى صهر الصخور وازدياد حجمها وتنقلها بكميات ضخمة، فتقود إلى تحريك أجزاء كبيرة من القشرة الأرضية – فتقع الهزات أو تنفجر البراكين. فلو كان باطن الأرض بارداً، فإن الهزات الأرضية قد تختفي وانفجارات البراكين تتوقف...". يدرس الباحث هذه الظواهر في كافة أنحاء العالم ويقدم آراء هامة لمجموعة من العلماء من بينهم بوريس خاين، "تبين حسب آخر التقييمات العلمية أن الانكسار الذي يمتد من البحر الأحمر عبر فلسطين ولبنان وسوريا، يتسع وعلى مدى الملايين من السنين سيصبح بحراً يؤدي إلى الفصل بين فلسطين والأردن ليمتد إلى لبنان وسوريا". يقدم الدكتور "محمود سعادة" عمله المميز هذا، من كونه اختصاصياً في جيولوجيا البترول، وعليه فهو ذو معرفة واسعة واطلاع تام بعلوم الأرض، فأراد أن يجد الرابط بين وقوع الهزات الأرضية وبين عملية كسوف الشمس، وخرج بنتائج مذهلة وحقائق علمية يخبأها هذا الكتاب الجدير بالاطلاع والقراءة، بكل ما يخص كوكب الأرض والنظام الشمسي والمجرات، يلقي فيه الأضواء على ظواهر طبيعية جبارة تمس حياة كل إنسان، بل تمسّ الكرة الأرضية كلها.
