وبالتالي لا يمكن تشخيص هذا الداء عبر فحص الدم ولكن عبر العوارض التي يسببها فقدان الدوبامين وقد تتضمن هذه العوارض الرعشة في اليدين وتصلب العضلات، واضطراب في الحركة. وهنا يتوقف المؤلف عند هذه العوارض والتي يوزعها على عوارض أولية وأخرى ثانوية، فيتحدث عن كل عارض على حدى وأسبابه، بعد ذلك يحاول الرد على كافة الأسئلة الموجهة إليه والتي تعرف بالداء بدقة وبطرق علاجه.
