يظل الشعر قمة ما يريد إيصاله الشاعر بواسطة بثه الدلالي والإيقاعي للكلمة التي هي المكون الأول للحالة الإنسانية وخاصة في لحظة من لحظات عشقها وعيشها تلك الحالة . في (عنق الحمام) يعزف الشاعر سالم جرمة بلغته على الوتر العاطفي بطريقة تتناغم فيها علائق الحياة مع إيحاءات النفس ونوازعها الخفية تلك التواقة إلى رسم صورة مثالية للحبيبة وذلك عبر منظومة من المعاني الدالة. وبكلام آخر إن رغبة تجتاح الشاعر في إيصال المعاني كما يراها هو عبر تأسيسه لصور شعرية تتجاوز في محمولاتها الدلالية الواقع إلى بنيان آخر يتمظهر عبر النسق الجمالي واللفظي للقصيدة بما تحتضنه من تنويعات رومانسية وذهنية بصرية في آن واحد، وهو ما نراه في تسابق الحواس في تشكيل الخطاب الشعري العام للنص الذي ترشح عنه غنائية عالية تارة، وصوفية جمالية حسية تارة أخرى، وهذا يعني ثمة تراسلاً حسياً باطنياً بين فكر الشاعر وعاطفته وهو ما نجح في إيصاله إلى القارئ.
تحت عنوان "أنا" نقرأ للشاعر سالم جرمة قصيدة يقول فيها:
"على شاطئ بحر حبك كتبت/ أحبك أنت/ والأمواج تمسحه/ كتبت ثانيةً/ أحبك أنت/ والأمواج تمسحه/ كتبت ثالثة ورابعة وخامسة/ أحبك أنت/ والأمواج تمسحه/ كتبت أحبك يا (أنا)/ فباتت الأمواج/ راضية عما كتبت/ فأحبك يا (أنا) أفضل من أحبك (أنت)..!".
يضم الكتاب (195) نصاً شعرياً ينتمي لقصيدة النثر جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "حبيبتي"، "صباحي بها"، "الانتظار"، "الطبيب"، "الفراق"، "فتنة عينيك"، "الوجع"، "كم من المرات"، "عام"، "لست لهم"، "علمني حبك"، "أضغاث أحلام"، "مدينة الأحزان"، "لأني أحبك"، (...) وقصائد أخرى.
