في مجموعته الشعرية "عزلةٌ بلون البحر" بدا لنا حسام لطيف البطاط في حالة استحضار لسحر حلمٌ بعيد، ورسم دقيق لتحليق الذات في عوالم موغلة في الغياب والحلم معاً، وقد تمظهر ذلك بلغةٍ تشد إليها صوراً متتابعة هي تعبير عن ذات تحاول أن ترسم عوالمها الخاصة من أقصى مكان في المخيلة، موظفاً ضمير المتكلم المباشر في تراكيبها الممتدة التي تفصح عن بؤرة النص الداخلية، وتسليط الضوء على مركز ثقله، وهي (أنا) الشاعر.
في القصيدة التي تحمل عنوان (حلم) يقول الشاعر البطاط: بانتظارِ الغيابْ / في عتمةِ المجهولِ / يُولدُ حلمٌ من دُخان / يُجهدُ أحداقنا المتعبة / يُبللُ أوراقنا بالحروفِ ثم يختفي!
يضم الكتاب ستة وعشرون قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "مطر الرحيل"، "عدالة الشعراء"، "عزلة بلون البحر"، "سحابة خوف"، "مواكب الصمت"، "أجيد الهروب"، (...) وقصائد أخرى.
