من على شرفة الروح يكتب سالم يحيى عبيري شِعره، فيطلق العنان لخيول الروح لتجري إلى ما وراء الحافة، أو ما وراء الجسد علّها تجد للنفس هدأة، أو ملاذاً من قسوة الزمان وظلمة المكان. "أيها الليل الناشف/ تقشّر/ أو ابق كما أنت/ لم تعد تعنيني/ ظلمتك/ سيضج هذا المدى بك يوماً/ ويضجر/ وهذا السواد الكالح لن يبقى هكذا/ حتماً سيتغير/ وستأتي/ حتماً/ ستأتي/ خيول الروح/ وستلقي عليك/ رداء فجرها الأحمر".
إن صيغة النداء هنا تحجب المتكلّم والمعنيّ، بينما الغلالة الشعريّة تحجب الوضوح الزمني، حيث يُستدخل كلُّ شيء ويُعاد ارتسامه في مخيلة الشاعر/ الإنسان، فتتماوج الأشياء والذكريات، بين الماضي والحاضر، ولتصب في بحرٍ كبير تسبح فيه عناصر اللغة، فتتلاقى العبارات، بجاذبية القول، ودفق الأخيلة.
يقول الشاعر: في اللحظة التي يكون/ جرحك فيها نازف/ في اللحظة التي تركض خيول الأشياء من/ حولك/ في وسطها ثمة خيل لا يتحرك/ صوت ما في أصقاعك يقول لك:/ النهر الناشف!/ لا تثيرك كل هذه الخيول الراكضة/ يغريك فقط منظر الخيل الواقف!!/ في اللحظة التي يخذلك فيها الوقت/ في عز أمانك/ تفقد شيئاً منك!/ وتشعر فجأة أنك خائف/ تغلق على نفسك الباب/ مثلي!". هكذا يضيء الشاعر عبيري زوايا الروح، وينسل في دهاليزها، فيتحول الشعر معه إلى رؤية قيمية، وتجربة حياتية توحّد بين فضاء الروح وفضاء الآخر؛ وما أجملها من تجربة.
يضم الكتاب أربع وعشرين قصيدة نثرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "الليل الناشف"، "شيء"، "حزن"، "صباح"، "مدينة البلابل"، "حكاية قوت"، "دقيقة"، "قبس"، "طيف"، "شبق"، "حزن الملكة"، "غدق"، (...) وقصائد أخرى.
