أول ملاحظة يمكن تسجيلها في قصائد الشاعر إبراهيم علي الحملي أنه جعل الشعر أداةً للكشف عن الأقنعة التي يلبسها البشر على وجوهم فهم جميعهم «يستوون» في أفعالهم وما تخفيه ذواتهم. ما يؤكد على أهمية العلاقة التي تربط الذات الشاعرة بالذوات الخارجية المستدعاة، بما فيها من انفصال حيناً وتوحد حيناً أخرى، هكذا، يُدخل الشاعر الحملي المتلقي في عوالم تجليات لا تنتهي، ويرفد القصيد بصورٍ شعرية متقاطعة مع فلسفته في الحياة ورؤيته للآخرين.في القصيدة التي يفتتح بها الشاعر المجموعة «يستوون» نقرأ:"كلهم حين تحشرهم يستوونْ/ الذين تنادوا إلى رغدٍ من لياليكَ/ في سخفهم/ في توددهم/ في تذبذبهم/ في انفعالات ألوانهم/ يستوونْ../ الذين توقعتهم/ الذين تخيّلتهم/ والذين تفدّيتهم/ بين منسدلٍ فوق رأيكَ من طيشه، زائفاً،/ وعقيمٍ يمجّده الضوءُ/ يمتار من حرّ قلبكَ،/ يعسفهُ لهواهُ/ وآخرُ يحضرُ يوم تغادركَ الأرضُ/ ضاقتْ فجارَ عليكَ به الدهرُ/ تُصغي/ فيرعدُ وجه رضاهُ/ وحولكَ من روحهِ الجذبُ/ من كثرةٍ/ كلهم يستوونْ. (...)".
