وما دام التاريخ يحكم بحتمية التقليد والتجديد أو المحافظة والإبداع فإنه علينا أن نعي أن المحافظة ليست بالضرورة على شكل قديم للتراث وإنما كما دللنا على ذلك فيما تقدم على تراث متحول من شكل له قديم إلى شكل له جديد.
فالكل متحول ولا دائم إلا المتحول.
ولما كانت هوية المجموعة أساساً سعياً جماعياً تحركه عوامل شتى بعضها اختياري وبعضها مفروض نتيجة صراعها الحقيقي مع الآخر، وأحياناً صراعها المتخيل معه، فإن هذه العوامل الإرادية واللاإرادية تقود الهوية حتماً إلى إعادة تشكل ملامحها بإعادة تموضعها. لذلك فإن كل محاولة للوقوف أمام المتغيرات بأي دعوى من الدعاوى مهما بدت مشروعة باسم المحافظة على الذات والموروث وما إلى ذلك ليست سوى دنكيشوتية لا طائل من ورائها، تعصف بها إرادة المجموعة المدركة وغير المدركة في أن تكون على الشاكلة التي تراها تعبر عنها وتتماثل معها.
إذ أن اللحن لا يصح له أن يقف خارج الزمن ما دام مرتبطاً بكل المتغيرات التي ذكرنا. فالكل متحول ولا دائم إلا المتحول.
