يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن دور البرامج الإخبارية والحوارية في قناة الجزيرة في نشر الوعي السياسي والمساهمة بمزاج سياسي جديد؛ وخاصة أنها بدت في صدارة الوسائل الإعلامية التي هيّأت للتغيير في المنطقة، بحيث كانت في البداية بإتجاه معاكس مع وسائل الإعلام العربية، ما أحدث صدمةً كبيرةً أثرت على المشاهد العربي، وبذلك حققت القناة نقلة نوعية كبيرة لدى المشاهد العربي، على مستوى وعيه واهتماماته، وشؤونه وشجونه، وقضاياه المصيرية، ومن زوايا متعددة من النظر والتحليل والنقد وبما يتوائم مع مستجدات الأحداث وعلى غير صعيد.
والكتاب في مضمونه دراسة أعدها الباحث الأستاذ راشد الكواري يهدف من ورائها كما يقول: "إلى تبيان رؤية طلاب الجامعات لقناة الجزيرة في زمن الربيع العربي، حيث يثير أداء قناة الجزيرة العديد من التساؤلات والإشكاليات، في ظل التطور السريع لثورة المعلوماتية وتقنيات الاتصال الذي انعكست تأثيراته على مجمل نواحي الحياة، والانفتاح على الآخرين ثقافياً واجتماعياً، ومن أجل الخروج بمقترحات، وسبل تطوير وتعزيز تلك العلاقة، كي يستفيد منها القائمون على الاتصال في رسم خططهم البرامجية".
انطلاقاً من تلك الرؤية توزعت خطة الدراسة على أربعة فصول قدّم فيها المؤلف نظرة شاملة عن الإعلام الفضائي والمرئي، وموقع قناة الجزيرة الفضائية، ونشأة وتأثير القنوات الفضائية العربية على الإعلام المرئي، والتلفزيون بشكل عام، ومواكبة القناة للتطورات الحاصلة، وذلك من خلال إطلاق شبكة الجزيرة الفضائية بقنواتها، وما تقدمه عبرها من برامج حوارية لنشر الوعي والإصلاح السياسي.
