عبر لغة متأنقة، شفافة، تخط "نادين الأسعد فغالي" حكاية المرأة. في رواية تتحدث فيها المرأة عن نفسها، عن لوعتها، عن كوامنها بحريّة، تلامس من خلالها المشاعر الإنسانية وتجعلها تتساوق مع الرغبات الكامنة. في "رياح الرغبة" تصرخ الروائية بصوت ياسمينة بطلتها لتحكي عبرها حكاية كل أنثى في مجتمع مكبل بعاداته وتقاليده يتوقف فيه دور الأنثى عند عتبة تاء التأنيث الساكنة: عادت ياسمينة إلى حيث هي، تصرخ وصوتها لا يطلع، تبكي وعيناها لا تدمعان، وقد لاحت في أفق عينيها معان كثيرة من الحزن والانكسار ومن رغبة في الانتقام، فالحبّ كان قد أتاها من حيث لا تعلم، ورحل عنها بلا إنذار، ومعه وجع ذكرى تجربة مزّقت أيّامهما الحلوة. كيف يمكن أن تتحوّل حياتنا فجأة، وبلحظات قليلة من نعيم إلى جحيم؟ من جنّة إلى نار، من عسل إلى علقم، ومن حبّ إلى كره؟ وكيف في لحظات قليلة يمكن أن نكره من نحبّ ونقوم بأشياء لم نتصور أنّنا قد نقوم بها، يوماً ما، مهما كانت الأسباب والظروف، فأهم الأمور في حياتنا نقبل بها، ولا دور لنا في حدوثها. إنّها خارج حدود إرادتنا كالولادة والحبّ والموت. الكره أيضاً يأتي غصباً عنا، فنحن نغار على الذين نحبهم لأننا نحبهم، ونغار على الذين لا يحبّوننا لأنّنا نحبّهم، والحب هو وحده غير المكتمل والمنقوص. نعم هو وحده الذي يولّد فينا الغيرة الشّديدة، وبالتالي الحقد الكبير، ويحفّز فينا الانتقام ممن نحبّهم ولا يحبّوننا، ولأن "راني" أحبّها لدرجة الكره لم يكن اغتصابه لها حاجة بيولوجية أو كبتاً جنسياً كما هي عادة حجّة الاغتصاب، بل كان استجابة لتنظيم يتخذ عادة شكل تهديد المرأة ومعاقبتها دافعاً للاغتصاب.
