تقف فيوليت ماركي على حافة برج الجرس في مدرستها على ارتفاع ست طبقات وقد تجمدت من شدة الخوف، بينما يقف تيودور فينش، الغريب الأطوار، على الإفريز القريب، ويُطمئنها قبل أن يصيبها الذعر، ويساعدها في النزول، إلى أمان الأرض، فيظن الجميع بأنها هي التي أقنعته بعدم القفز من الأعلى.
حتى الأمس القريب كانت فيوليت فتاة مرحة، غير أن وفاة أختها أثَّرت فيها بعمق ومحت الابتسامة عن وجهها. بينما يحمل فينش سمعة الفتى العنيف والمهووس والمتقلب. ولكنه منذ تلك الحادثة يتتبع فيوليت أينما ذهبت، حتى إنه يسجّل اسمها كشريكة له في المشروع المدرسي "التجوال عبر الولاية". وخلال تجوالهما في أرجاء ولاية إنديانا، تبدأ فيوليت بمعاينة معالمها السياحية البسيطة عبر عيني فينش، ليتحول كل موقع إلى معلم مميز وفريد. وهكذا، يتقمص فينش دور البطل، محاولاً التخفيف من شدة تأثير وفاة أختها عليها. ورغم انطلاق فيوليت في رحلةٍ التعافي من الحزن الذي مزقها وعزلها لحوالي السنة، إلاّ أن فينش يزداد وحدة واكتئاباً.
رغم صعوبة المواضيع التي تطرحها هذه الرواية وحساسيتها، فإن سياق سردها الدرامي يتدفق؛ رغم اضطراب بطليها وشعورهما بعدم الأمان، إلاّ أن "كل الأماكن المشرقة" ستلقى قبولاً لدى المراهقين من القراء، كما أن فينش سيلقى بشكل خاص استحساناً من القراء سيستمر طويلاً بعد قراءة الصفحة الأخيرة.
يذكر أنه، صدرت للروائية "جينيفر نيفين" أربع روايات للبالغين وهي: "الشقراء الأمريكية"، "أن تصبح كليمينتين"، "فيلفا جان تتعلم الطيران"، "فيلفا جان تتعلم قيادة السيارة"، هذا بالإضافة إلى ثلاثة كتب غير خيالية وهي: "ملك الجليد"، "راية القرصان آدا"، "مذكرات بحرية على الشبكة".
