مستندة إلى برودة أعصاب ليو المبدعة، وتخطيطه الدقيق، بالإضافة إلى الأسلحة التي سرقتها أثناء عمليتها الأولى، تستعد العصابة لشنّ سلسلة من أعنف عمليات السطو المسلح التي حصلت في البلاد. وهم يخططون لاستخدام الأسلحة المسروقة لابتزاز الحكومة السويدية لتأمين رصيد مالي يكفيهم مدى العمر.
كل التفاصيل تمّ الإعداد لها بكل دقة. خطوة خطوة، ودقيقة بدقيقة، ومن المستحيل التعرف إلى ليو وعصابته أو تقصّي أثرهم؛ فليس هناك شاهد يمكنه الوصول إليهم. ولكن مفتش المباحث جون برونكس الذي أُكلت إليه قضيتهم هو محقق مهووس بالاستقصاء بقدر تصميم ليو على تحقيق مخططاته الإجرامية. وبعد أن يتتبع برونكس أثر فريسته في مسرح الجريمة، ينطلق في عملية الملاحقة من هناك. وقبل وصوله إلى شفير الاستنزاف، يندفع باتجاه فريسته ليقع الانفجار النهائي.
