يدرك علاء تماما أن عزت قد توفى، ولن يعود للحياة أبدا، ولكنه يشعر بطيفه قابعا داخل روح داليا وكيانها، ولا يريد البتة مفارقتها. كذلك يعتريه الشك أن تكون داليا من جانبها مستمتعة بإقامة عزت الدائمة بذاكرتها.يرى علاء عزت بأحاسيسه، مَرحا في حدقتي عينيها العسليتين، ومُستنشق شذاهما، ومستغشىٍ مسامها، كأنه يشاركه أنسام أريجها، وينصت معه بهيام لنبضات فؤادها.لقى عزت مصرعه بالفعل، ولكنه لم يفارق عالم داليا وأحلامها وخيالها. لا تزال وشوشته تقاطع حواره معها، تزاحم همسات كلماته وعباراته.تتركه داليا لتنصت بشغف لعزت، ثم تقارن بينهما وتكون الغلبة لعزت دائماً.يزل لسانها في بعض الأحيان مرددة مناقب عزت ومآثِره، فتجرده كلماتها من احساسه بأنه رجلها الوحيد، وتغمره بشعور الفارس لحظة اعتلاء الغير على صهوة جواده.هذا ما يقوله عمر حسين سرّاج عن روايته «الغيرة من رجل ميت»، استخدم فيها راوياً عليماً، كلي العلم، من داخل الرواية ومن خارجها في الوقت نفسه، مشاركاً وغير مشارك. قريباً لبطل الرواية، والشخصيات الأخرى المكملة، فكأنه ضميرهم الذي يحاورهم على الدوام، والذي يملي عليهم ماذا يفعلوا، أي أن الراوي هنا ملتحماً بالشخصيات، وصلته بالمؤلف قريبة، حتى لكأنه يعبر عن صوته، أكثر مما يعبر عن صوت الشخصيات، فالراوي يخاطب البطل، وفي الوقت نفسه، يروي ما يجري، ويقع، ملقياً الضوء على الحدث الذي يسرده، مُفسِّراً ما يدور في خيال الشخصية السردية، وأفعالها وحركاتها، فيجمع بين روي الحدث وبطولته، والراوي هنا هو البطل الذي يروي ويعي أنه يروي – يكتب رواية – لذلك يتم المزج بين فعل الرواية وفعل الكتابة، وتحديد الحيز لممارسة كلٍّ منهما، وبذلك نجح عمر حسين سرّاج في هذه الرواية في صناعة نص رديف داخل نص، أي رواية داخل رواية، من دون الإيهام بواقعيتها، وقد طرح من داخلها قضايا الأدب وأدوات الكتابة (التقنيات) وغاية الرواية.
