بين أن تعيش المرأة حباً افتراضياً وبين أن تعيش زواجاً واقعياً، هو المجال الذي تدور حوله رواية (أوف لاين) للروائية ندى الحايك، بيد أن هذه السمة لا تعفي من ضرورة التمييز بين "سمة الافتراضي"، التي هي مكوناً رئيساً لهذا النص الروائي، وبين "سمة الواقعي" بما هو خطاب مركزي للرواية العربية؛ ويتأسس على موضوعات أخرى تتقاطع معها في بنيتها النصية كالعادات والتقاليد والزواج والطلاق وكل ما يمت إلى وضع المرأة في مجتمع ذكوري ولتشكل هذه الرواية في سمتها الافتراضية والواقعية، تجربة فريدة واستثنائية للكاتبة ندى الحايك في القص الروائي الحديث.
هي قصة "ودي" الفتاة التي مارست الجنون البريء، وأقامت علاقة لا يُمكن أن يفهمها هذا العالم الرديء، وجدت في الفضاءات الالكترونية ما كانت تبحث عنه، روحاً تفهمها، وأحاسيس لم تشعر بها فيما يفترض أنه واقعاً في العلاقة بين المرأة والرجل، هذه هي حياة "ودي" كما تقولها الرواية والتي كانت في واقعها "أوف لاين"، وفي عالمها الافتراضي كانت "أون لاين" بكل شيء ممكن.
تركز الرواية على الصوت الداخلي للمرأة، وهو الصوت الذي رافق بطلة الرواية "دوي" وتمردت به على الواقع وعلى ضعفها "عقدة لسانها" التي لازمتها طوال حياتها، ذلك "الصوت الأسود" الذي استطاعت التحرر منه عبر معركة نفسية خاضتها مع ذاتها.. ولكنها للأسف معركة خاسرة في نظر المجتمع.. الذي ثارت عليه "ودي" حتى انفجر "الدوي" الذي في داخلها، الدوي الذي يبدو أنه سوف يكلفها حياتها..!!
"الوداع لـ "ودّ" الفتاة المستضعفة، الوداع لـ "ودي" البنت الشاطرة، وأهلاً بـ "دوي" التي لم تعد أوف لاين".
