"مقهى البسطاء" هي قصة امرأة تُزف إلى أرمل أختها وفي قلبها يسكن آخر لا ينبض فؤاده بحبها، وتفقد والدها ليلة زفافها. ليتحول عرسها إلى مأتم... وقلب عريسها لا يرى سوى "حور" توأمها التي قضت في حادث سيارة.. وأما قلبها هي فمع رجل آخر لم يقل لها كم عشقها يوماً، فكلمة الحب بالنسبة إليه عقدٌ دون ورقٍ وشهود.. يكفي أن تتبادلها مع امرأة حتى تبرما عهداً على الارتباط الأبدي.. ولأن لسانه كان معقوداً دوماً بـ (قيدٍ أمني) يلاحق محبوبته لم ينطق بكلمة حبٍ لها.
إلا أن الحكاية لن تنتهي هنا، ستظل "حور" تتراءى لأختها قمر وتنظر إليها بما يشبه العتب، تسمع صوت انتصارها وهي تقول:
زواج منهوب، ستطولك لعنته أنتِ وأبناءك..
وبالفعل ستتكرر حكاية "حور" و"قمر" من جديد بعد أن تلد قمراً من زوج أختها المتوفاة توأماً آخراً يشابهها وأختها في الشكل والطباع وحتى لون الشعر.. سيواجه التوأمان الجديدان "سارة" و"فتنة" ذات المصير الذي واجهته الأم والخالة ولكن، هل سيكتب القدر لإحداهن نهاية مختلفة؟
ثمة خيارات كالرياح العاتية تعبث بنا، تحرّكنا أينما شاءت ونحن في حضرتها كالطفل على أرجوحة، يحركه الهواء، إلى الأمام تارة، وإلى الخلف تارةً أخرى. هكذا هي الحياة تملكنا ولا نملكها...
