تدور أحداث الرواية بين جدة وعمان ودبي بين امرأة مخلصة ورجل خائن، دخل حياتها في لحظة ضعف، وخرج في لحظة قوة، وبقيت هي أسيرة حبه، رغم علمها بالنهاية، مصابة به كالداء الذي ليس له دواء، مدمنة عشقه، باحثة عنه، تقاوم مشاعرها، وتبسط صلاتها إليه كناسك متعبد لمعشوقه، فات الكثير من عمرها ولم يأتِ، ولأنه كان بطل حياتها وحكايتها التي لا تكتمل فصولها إلا به قررت أن تكتب قصةً هو بطلها الوحيد...
ما يميز هذه الرواية بروز الذات الأنثوية بشكل كبير، وفي جانب آخر منها هي تعبير عن العلاقة الثنائية بين الـ "هي" والـ "هو"، كيف تحب المرأة، وكيف يحب الرجل، كما أنها تكشف عن المتناقضات في كيان واحد، سواء أكان رجلٌ أم امرأة أم مجتمع؛ ولهذا نراها تعلن ثورتها على العرف والسائد والمألوف، على لسان أنثى/كاتبة ومكتوبة...
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ:
"... لم يكن الحب يوماً من أولوياتي، لست من المؤمنات به حدّ البحث عنه، أراه من بعيد، أحدق إلى عينيه وأبتسم ألوّح له، وإذا اقترب مني هربت واختبأت لم أعلم أن كل كلمات العشق تلك التي سمعتها في الأغاني، والأشعار وشاهدتها ورأيتها في وجوه الناس، سينطق بها قلبي يوماً...".
