«أرض الأخوات» مغامرة آسرة، تبدأ بسقوط ابنة الإحدى عشرة سنة "أليس" في هوة ثلجية تنقلها من عالم يكاد الثلج يغمره إلى عالم آخر، حيث تجد في حديقة الأسرار صديقة لها تدعى "ماريسا"، ومن هناك تبدأ مغامرة "أليس" لإنقاذ العالم.
تجمع القصة بين أجواء ساحرة من عالم الخيال، وتشدد على القيمة الكبيرة للصداقة؛ فصداقة "أليس" و"ماريسا" ستنقذ العالم من ثلج يغمره، وصداقة "ليلى" و"آنا" سلبت عالمنا صيفه وظلاله.
من أجواء الكتاب نقرأ:
"... وحدهم المتحولون يستطيعون السفر بين العوالم. هذا ما جال في ذهن أليس تلك الليلة حين خيّم الظلام على أرجاء غرفتها، وبدت أفكارها مشوشة. لا يمكن أن يأتي المتحولون إلا إذا ناديتهم.
"أيها المتحول بدّل شكلك، أيها المتحول بدّل شكلك، أيها المتحول بدّل شكلك". همست أليس مراراً وتكراراً وهي تنظر إلى السقف.
كانت تلك تعويذتها، وأمنيتها وأملها. ظلت تردد تلك الكلمات إلى أن أصبحت أحرفها ألواناً وومضات نورٍ تشع في مخيلتها لتعبر سقف غرفتها إلى سماء تلك الليلة الداكنة، وتحملها معها لتطير إلى عالمٍ لم تزره من قبل. هل هي حقاً موجودة الآن؟ ماذا لو أن تحطيم مرآة الظلال دمّر أرض الأخوات؟ هل سيبقى أي من المتحولين بعد الآن؟ لم تعلم أليس شيئاً عن ذلك. لقد آمنت أن أحداً أو شيئاً ما سيسمع نداءها. أحكمت قبضتها على الزجاجة التي كانت آنا قد أعطتها إياها.. وغرقت أليس في حلم رمادي...".
