في روايتها «نافذة الأمل» تؤثث الكاتبة مريم آل دهنيم لفكرة "السفر عبر الزمن"، ويتبدى حضور دالة الزمن في الرواية على شكل بنية نصية درامية تتموضع ضمنها الشخصية الروائية المختارة للقيام بهذا الدور وهي "مايا" الكاتبة الصحافية والروائية التي ترى العالم من خلال نافذتها السحرية؛ النافذة التي ستكون شاهدة على تحولها من عالم الوعي إلى عالم اللاوعي، لا تعرف إذا ما كان الذي تعيشه حقيقة أم خيال!
"مايا" التي عشقت النجوم من وراء نافذتها، ستعيش حالة من السيولة في الزمن، فالصور المنسابة إلى ذهنها لا تخضع لترتيب زمني معهود، فهي ترد في الذهن انطلاقاً من ذكريات عاشتها؛ فما حصل لها في السينما وقبل دخولها المستشفى، والرسوم، وكنوزها؛ "مؤلفاتها" الموجودة داخل مكتبها المقفول، والورقة الصفراء التي جلبتها العاصفة لها، وذلك الثقب الأسود الذي يجر جسدها النحيل إلى داخله المظلم، كل ذلك يؤشر على أن للزمن في هذه الرواية بعداً نفسياً، وفيزيائياً في نفس الوقت، فضلاً عن اتساع دائرة الانفصال بينهما (النفسي - الفيزيائي) وهنا تكمن براعة الكاتبة وموهبتها في اجتراح أنساق وأفكار جديدة في كتابة النص الروائي.
