وكما كان طريق الحرير الذي امتدّ بين الصين وكبريات مدنها ماراً بوسط آسيا وبلاد فارس والعراق والشام وصولاً إلى موانئ أوروبا وأسواق إفريقيا، فإن الطريق البحري الوحيد والأكثر شهرة الذي ربط أوروبا وبلاد العرب بشرق آسيا، انطلق عبر مياه البحر الأحمر حاملاً معه مختلف أنواع السلع وأكثرها قيمة، ليكون طريقاً للحرير عبر السفن والموانئ والمحطات من خلال الجزر المتناثرة على طول مساره.
إنها قصة “بحر” وشعوبه التي كانت تعتاش على خيراته، وهي أيضاً قصة إنسان ارتبط مصيره بمصير الموقع الجغرافي للبحر الأحمر.
