قيل لأعرابي: من أبلغ الناس؟ قال: أسهلهم لفظاً وأحسنهم بديهة. البلاغة هي أن تجيب فلا تبطئ وتصيب فلا تخطئ. وهكذا كان العرب مبدعين في ضرب الأمثال في مختلف المواقف والأحداث التي تعترضهم، حتى ازدحمت أشعارهم بالحكم والأمثال والبلاغة في التعبير. وهذا ما اختطه مؤلف هذا الكتاب الذي اتخذ فيه منحىً ونهجاً مبنيين على الشعر والبلاغة والحكمة والأمثال عند العرب ومن غير الشعر أقوى دلالة في التعبير.؟
وما بين دفتي الكتاب حكم وأمثال عربية دونت شعراً تمثل مختلف المراحل منذ عصر الجاهلية وصولاً إلى عصرنا الحاضر جمعها بعناية ودقة فائقين المؤلف "منصور عبد الرحمن" من الإمارات، ووضعها في متناول القارئ العربي.

ومن شعر العرب اخترنا لك: -لئن فاتني منك حظ النظر، لأكتفني بسماع الخير "ابن زيدون". –ومن مذهبي حب الديار وأهلها، وللناس فيما يعشقون مذاهب "أبو نواس". – أمتي هل لك بين الأمم، منبر للسيف أو للقلم "عمر أبو عريشة". –لكم بالسيف قومنا اعوجاجاً، ولولا الحرب ما حصل السلام "رشيد سليم الخوري".
