كتابه هذا الموزع على عدة فصول "الجذور"، "عبور المأساة"، "طريق الأمل" هو بحد ذاته يرسم مسار الوطن الجزائري منذ نحو نصف قرن حتى اليوم. تراه حاضراً في حدث، قريباً منه، مطلعاً على خفاياه، مدركاً لمراميه سوءا تعلق الأمر بالتقلبات السياسية التي شهدتها البلاد أو ببعض القضايا الأساسية المطروحة على مفكريها ومناضليها (قضايا اللغة والامازيغية والإسلام والأحزاب...)، وصولاً إلى بعض المحطات المفصلية كأحداث أكتوبر 88، ومشروع الرئيس عبد العزيز بوتفليقة للوفاق والمصالحة الوطنية بعد عشرية الدماء والدموع، رغم صرامته ووضوحه في تحليل الأحداث ورسم الشخصيات، فهو يهاجم فلا يجرح، وينتقد فلا يفضح، وغالباً ما يلمح فلا يصرح، فهو يكتب عن الكثيرين دون أن يلفظ أسماءهم، ربما لكي يحفظ لهم ماء وجوههم، لكنه قطعاً يزيدنا حشرية وتشوقاً لسماع المزيد... من باب التشويق البوليسي على الأقل!
