ولد في مدينة جرابلس ثم انتقل إلى حلب، شارك في العديد من النشاطات السياسية في فترة شبابه والتي سجن على اثرها مرتين امتدت في المرة الثانية إلى 15 عاماً؛ تنقل خلالها بين العديد من السجون أبرزها سجن تدمر و سجن صيدنايا والتي استمد منها روايته القوقعة ،هاجر منذ عام 2006 إلى الإمارات العربية المتحدة بعد ان كانا ممنوعاً من السفر خارج سوريا ومن ثم إلى فرنسا حيث يقيم اليوم. متزوج من الناشطة سحر البني شقيقة الناشطين السياسيين أكرم وأنور البني.

تنتقل بنا ه1ه الرواية من زنزانة، الى "خلوة"، فإلى سراديب مليئة بالذهب والنقود. وتعرّج على أزمنة تاريخية موسومة بالخلافات والمذابح. لكنها ليست رواية تاريخية بالمعنى المألوف، بل أدى فيها الخيال دورا أساسيا، وسمح لنفسه بأن يستخدم سؤال: "ماذا لو؟".
