السمفونيّة السوداء ثنائّية من جزأين، صدر الجزء الأوّل منها "خيال الصحراء" باللغة الألمانيّة عن دار زوركامب في فرانكفورت سنة 2005، وها هي الآن ترى النور باللغة العربيّة عن دار الآداب، إنّها رواية تداعب الجنون، الذي ربّما أُصبنا به جميعاً.
بطل هذه الرواية هو "آدم" وهو مخرج تلفزيوني يصرف راتبه على الكحول والمخدرات، وقد قارب الموت مرات عدة عندما كان منتسباً إلى الميليشيات اللبنانية أثناء الحرب الأهلية، وقد احتفظ بجمجمة أحد المقاتلين طوال الوقت كأيقونة وعبرة، وصنع لنفسه صديقاً خشبياً هو "خيال الصحراء" جعله سميراً له ونديماً.
يمثل "خيال الصحراء" مرآة آدم لصوته الداخلي، يبث من خلاله لواعجه وأحاسيسه وخواطره.
"رواية تقرأ كدراسةٍ في علم النفس، كمتغيّرة فرنكنشتين، صوفية حديثة" بهذه الكلمات وصفتها صحيفة Neuer السويسرية.
