هو قاص وروائي وناقد وكاتب مسرحي لبناني، ولد في العاصمة اللبنانية بيروت عام 1948.
كتب عشر روايات ترجمت إلى العديد من اللغات وثلاث مسرحيات وله العديد من الكتابات النقدية.

هذه قصة مجتمع يتحلل، حيث الراوي يجبر على مغادرة منزلة، ويقاتل في شوارع المدينة وعلى الجبال، ويعيش تجربة موت رفاقه وتجربة الحب، وينتهي مخاطباً محارباً قديماً مشوشاً في الممرات وعلى رصيف متروباريس. إن فرادة الجبل الصغير المذهلة هي في تجنبها الميلودراما والمألوف: فإلياس خوري يحبك الفصول من غير نسيج أو نسق يمكن التنبؤ به، وهو في ذلك يشبه إلى حد بعيد سجيناً خارج الأرض أفرج عنه فجأة فراح يهيم من مكان إلى آخر، ومن الوراء إلى الأمام، معبراً عن ذلك بلغة واقعية حسنة التمفصل هي على الدوام تقريبية، وإلى حد ما، مربكة له. إن عمل خوري يجسد بذلك حقيقة مأزق لبنان. إلياس خوري فنان يعطي صوتاً للمنافي ذات الجور، ولمصيبة اللاجئين الواقعين في الشرك، للحدود المتلاشية والهويات المتغيرة، للمطالب الجذرية وللغات الجديدة.
