في كتابه "نقد المركزية .. حدث الآخر" يناقش الكاتب سيليفيان آغاسانسكي قضايا إشكالية تدور حول النظرة نحو الآخر المختلف في الثقافة والفكر، ويفعل ذلك بعرض وتفكيك وتحليل فلسفات وتأملات وأفكار كل من ديكارت وكنط وهيغل وفرويد وكيركفارد وآخرون. وعلى هذا تمثل إعادة طرح الآخر – أي الآخرين – هي موضوع تأملات آغاسانسكي في هذا الكتاب والتي برأيه: "يجب إعادة طرحها، ليس إنطلاقاً من الذاتية، الفردية أو الجماعية، التي تعتقد أنها تعلم ما هو خاص بها. ولكن إنطلاقاً من هذا الإمتحان للآخر الذي هو وجود مباشر، وجود يأتي الآخر دائماً لكي يتقاسمه (...) لا يوجد أحد يعرف أن يطرح "قضية الآخر" من غير أن يكون قد تلقاها من الآخر الذي تتجه إليه على نحو من الأنحاء. وأكثر من أي قضية أخرى، فإنه لا معنى لهذه القضية إلا أن تكون متقاسمة" ولهذا وضع المؤلف كما يقول فصلاً في "نقد موقف "المركزية" من "قضية الآخر"، هذا بالإضافة إلى فصول في: إختبار التواصل الفلسفي مع حوافز الوراثة، واختبار الحب بشكله السامي وتوقه نحو المطلق، أو بقبوله الإكتمال الذي لا تستطيع الذات العاقلة أن تفكر فيه أبداً، وأخيراً اختبار العنصرية (...) وقضايا أخرى ...
