وينتقل البحث الحالي من مناقشة العلاقة بين التربية والتنمية إلى محاولة تشخيص واقع التعليم في العالم الإسلامي باعتباره أحد أهم روافع التنمية والنهضة، ويركز هذا التشخيص على الاشكالات الأساسية التي تعاني منها الأنظمة التعليمية في العالم الإسلامى، ثم يحاول البحث المساعدة في رسم الصورة الكلية للوصول للريادة الحضارية.
وثمة نموذج آخر يركز على عملية الإصلاح التربوي الذي يصلح أن يكون أداة لتنمية شاملة ويحدد النموذج العلاقة بين جميع الشركاء في الإصلاح التربوي، بما في ذلك الدولة والمجتمع المدني والإدارة المركزى والمدرسة والمعلم والمتعلم، ويركز النموذج على المدرسة كمؤسسة قادرة على تحقيق الكثير مما يصبو إليه الإصلاح التربوي.
ويأمل الباحث، من خلال هذه الدراسة، أن يكون قد أضاء شمعة بدلاً من لعن الظلام، وأن يشكل في نفس الوقت حافزاً للباحثين لتقديم أعمال وأفكار أكثر عمقاً وشمولاً.
