الكثير من التفاصيل يسردها العربي رمضاني بصدقٍ جارح، وألمٍ كبير ناقلاً حكايات الناجين من البحر والعائدين إليه، جثثاً كانوا أو مساجين مُرحَّلين. وبين الحلم والكابوس خيطُ ضوءٍ نتبعه لتقودنا الأحداث إلى محاكمةٍ أخلاقية لأنظمة فاسدة، تدفعُ على اختلاف طرقِها، مُواطنيها لركوب الموج والمجازفة في قوارب هي تسمية أخرى لنعوش الموتى.
يُنصح لقراءة هذا الكتاب وضع واقٍ شمسيّ ومطريّ شفاف وجلب الكثير من ماء الشرب، دون ذلك فقد تُصابون بحروق تصل للدَّرجة الثانية، وبجفاف فم، وبالكثير الكثير من الملح.
من الكتاب: بعد التحرّرّ من الوثيقة التي تربطني بالوطن، أخذتُ نَفَساً عميقاً وتأمّلتُ سطح الجزيرة. تخيّلتُ "ساموس" شقراء هيلينة ناعمة مستلقيةً على جنبها الأيمن، وتتهيّأ للنوم، ونحن نتسلّقُها ونمشي على جغرافيا جسدها حتّى نبلغ لون عينَيْها اللامعَتَيْن، منحدراتٌ جبلية قاسية بأعشابٍ شوكيةٍ وأشجار قصيرة وأرضية بصخور صلبة مغطّاة بفطرياتٍ وحشائش مبتلّة ولزجة. لم نَخَفْ، ولم نشعر بالرَّهْبَة، تقدّمَ مرافقي واستعان بإنارة الهاتف ولم يُنصِت لنصائح حازم المصري الذي رضخ في النهاية وتبعنا، كانت المسالك ضيِّقةً جدّاً والمنحدرات تتضاعف ويزداد طولها، لا مَعْلَم واضح يلوحُ في الأفق، ارتفاع ثمّ انخفاض، البحر يظهر لنا على اليمين، كنّا نمشي وعلى الأرض صادفتْنا بقايا ملابس، سراويل، أقمصة، لعبة أطفال من القماش، حذاء امرأة، قارورات مياه... بعدها وجدْنا مسلكاً به شارات من القماش الأبيض مُثَبّتةٌ على الأغصان، وضعها مَنْ مرّوا قبلنا، لتسهيل عبور مَنْ يأتي بعدهم، جحافلٌ بشريةٌ رهيبةٌ مرّتْ من هنا أزعجتْ سباتَ هذا الجبل الذي تحدّى أعماق بحر إيجة، واختار البقاء شامخاً ومعانِقاً دفء الشمس وتدوين أنين الإنسانية المعذّبة.
