لم يشهد العلم العربي نجاحاً لعازفٍ كالذي تربّع على عرشه سامي أنطوان الشوا، أمير الكمان. فهو، بعد أبيه أنطوان، من رسّخ آلة الكمان في التخت الموسيقي العربي وأعطى هذه الآلة كل إمكاناتها. فبعمل دؤوب وموهبة قلّ نظيرها جعل الكمان يتكلّم اللغة العربية الفصحى. جاب العالم بكمانه وسَحَر محبّي الموسيقى من ملوك وسلاطين ورؤساء وسواد بشر، فأُغدقت عليه الأوسمة التي أثقلت كاهله الصغير كما يبدو في إحدى الصور. سجّل العديد من الموسيقى الآلية فرفع من شأنها، وواكب كبار مطربي عصره، من الشيخ يوسف المنيلاوي إلى أم كلثوم ومحمد عبد الوهاب، وعزف كأفضل عازف عراقي مع الموسيقيين العراقيين، وكأفضل عازف كويتي مع الكويتيين، وحاكى المزمار الصعيدي بلهجته.
أول عمل يُنشر عن هذا الفنان الكبير بمناسبة مرور خمسين سنة على غيابه، تصدره مؤسسة التوثيق والبحث في الموسيقى العربية، كما تصدر بهذه المناسبة مختارات من أعماله في مصنّف مؤلف من أربعة أقراص مدمجة.
