الشاعر نزار حمادة يقدم إلينا في ديوانه "أنشودة عمر" تجربته الشخصية وذاته الشاعرة ستكون هي المحور الذي ترتكز عليه قصائده، وهذا الحضور يقترب كثيراً من قصائد الإخوانيات والمناسبات، وخاصة أن الديوان يمتلىء بأسماء لها مرجعيتها الواقعية، ومنها قصائد رثاء (رثاء ماجد حمادة) ومنها "على ضريح صبري حمادة" ومنها ما يبث فيها لواعج قلبه إلى اسرته "إلى زوجتي" وإلى أبنائه "باسل وعلا" ، ولم ينسَ حتى حفيده فخصه بقصيدة "إلى حفيدي نزار" ومنها ما بقي من شتات (حياته).
هي نصوص مفتوحة البدايات والنهايات ، إنها سجل سيرة عفوية، يقولها الشاعر على مرأى من الناس ... شكوى النفس للنفس، والروح للروح، وكأنها سفر في غابة الشعر لا عودة منه ... .
في القصيدة المعنونة (حياتي) يقول الشاعر نزار حمادة:
جئت أدعو الحياة / رحتُ أعدو للممات ، بت أدنو نحو حتفي / حاملاً هم العّناةِ ، قد أنام الدهر رحلي / في قفارٍ فلاةِ (...).
يضم الديوان قصائداً في الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "شتات العمر" ، "حياتي" ، "غريق" ، "الشيطان" ، "الدولة الفاسدة" ، "العاصي" ، "إلى حفيدتي عائدة" ، "يا ولدي" ، "غروب العمر" ، "آخر الأحلام" ، "ثورة شاعر" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
