عزيزي القارئ.. يسر "الكتب خان" أن تضع بين يديك رواية تنتمي إلى الثقافة الجورجية، وتعبر عن هذه الثقافة في عصرين مختلفين؛ القرن العشرين الذي كتبت فيه الرواية، والعصر الوسيط الذي دارت فيه أحداثها. تصور رواية "أنطونيو وديفيد" المجتمع الجورجي في العصر الوسيط، الذي يعاني من داخله من التعصب الديني ومحاكم التفتيش، ويضم رجال دين يعتبرون كل الأفكار المختلفة هرطقات، ويعاني من خارجه من حروب مع المسلمين، ووسط صراعات الداخل والخارج يصبح من الصعب معرفة الإيمان الحقيقي أو السير في الطرق المستقيمة. السارد في الرواية هو الرحالة والتاجر بارتولوميو الذي ارتحل كثيرا وقرر في نهاية حياته كتابة ذكرياته عن البلاد التي ذهب إليها والناس الذين قابلهم، تلك الذكريات التي ضمنها في كتابه المزعوم "الحكايات والتقاليد والأخلاق؛ وصف للبلاد التي ارتحل إليها التاجر "بارتولوميو دانيتي"، ومن بين قصص الكتاب العديدة يحكي بارتولوميو هذه المرة قصة الشخصيتين البارزتين أنطونيو وديفيد
