"أعرف كيميا منذ أن جائتنا طفلةً تركت للتوّ رعي غنمات أبيها، روحًا منكشفة على مالا نراه. وصفها البعض بالجنون،واتهمها آخرون بالمسّ. أعرف وحدي أنها ليست هكذا،هي كائن تخلّص من عتمته فشفّ.طفلة تهيأت لدخول عالم النساء،بحاجة إلى حبيب، يكتشفان معًا أسرار الحب والجسد. وكنا تهيأنا، حين اختطفوها منّي وألقوها في تنّوره ليستخلص روحَها".
تتتبع هذه الرواية مصير"كيميا"، تلك الفتاة التي نشأت في بيت الشاعر والعاشق الصوفي "جلال الدين الرومي"، والتي قدمها زوجة لأستاذه "شمس الدين التبريزي" على الرغم من عدم التكافؤ البادي بينهما؛ والذى تجلى في أنها كانت أصغر من زوجها بثمانية وأربعين عاما.
تطرح الرواية عبر سرد متدفق ولغة عذبة، عدة أسئلة صعبة وملغزة.. لماذا وافق "التبريزي" على التزوُّجِ بكيميا برغم أنه يكاد في عمر أجدادها ؟
لماذا مرضت كيميا بعد زواجها به بقليل مرضًا لم يُغادر سوى بروحها؟ كيف اختفت كيميا هكذا وكأنها لم تكنْ؟ لماذا لم يتأسفْ جلال الدين الرومي في أشعاره على موتها؟ لماذا عاشت نكرة وماتت مجهولة القبر؟ والأهم: لماذا أهداها الرومى لشمس الدين برغم علمه بالحب الذي جمعها بابنه علاء الدين ؟
رواية بكل مافيها من جرأة على اختراق الماضي وإعادة بنائه، تفتح الباب لقارئها أمام عالم آخر وتفسيرات مغايرة.
