وبَدَتْ في عمق الصحراء أطيافٌ لكتلة ضخمة ومتحركة تقترب من الغزالة؛ كانت جحافل لانهائية من نخلات تدور حول نفسها، مئات آلافٍ من نخلاتٍ تتدحرج أفقيّاً بانتظام وخفَّة خلف جسمٍ بشريٍّ ضئيل، ممتدّة في الصحراء بطولٍ يتجاوز أربعة كيلومترات وعرضٍ يقارب الثلاثة كيلومتر؛ وتبدو كبساطٍ عملاق يُسحَبُ بأيدٍ خفيّة نحو الغزالة. كانت النخلات تشكّل ما يقرب من ثلاثة آلاف صفّ متتالٍ، وفي كلّ صفٍّ يتدحرج ما بين ثلاثمئة إلى أربعمئة نخلة. والضئيل في المقدمة، يهرول أمام النخلات ويلهث؛ بشفاهٍ منفرجة، داكنة ورفيعة، يكوّرها أثناء شفطه المتقطّع للهواء، بشهيقٍ مبتور وغير متساوٍ، واللعاب يسيل ويتطاير من فتحة فمه، وينفصل سريعاً مع الرياحجحافل لا نهائية من النخلات، تتسابق في تدمير قرية الغزالة. وفيما يعيش سكان بلدة المناجاة رعب اللحظات الأخيرة، في انتظار قدر محتوم يرسمه شخص يسعى للانتقام، ثمة مواضٍ تتكشف، وأحداث تطفو، وحكايات تتناسل؛ لتروي قصة قريتين خياليتين.جبل المجازات رواية تستلهم من مأثورات القرى في ريف مصر، ومعتقدات ناسها وحكايتهم الخرافية؛ لتبني أسطورتها الخاصة.
