شعر كامل بما تشعرت به، وأحس بخطورة ما يحدث، أمسك هاتفه ليعاود الاتصال بها مرة أخرى وهو يتحرك للخارج، يفكر في أي شيء يطمئن قلب تلك المسكينة وقلبه، لكنه لمح أثناء مروره بباب الحمام الذي يقع أمام باب غرفتها أنه مقفل على غير العادة والإضاءة مغلقة بالداخل، لا أحد منهم يدخل الحمام ليلًا ولا يضيء أي مصباح، فمد يده المرتعشة نحو مقبض الباب، والهاتف على أذنه باليد الأخرى، يخبره بأن الهاتف الذي يحاول الاتصال به ربما يكون مغلقًا أو خارج نطاق الخدمة، يدير مقبض الباب فاتحًا إياه ببطء شديد، وضربات قلبه تصدق أشياء سوداء قد رسمت في خياله عما يتوقع مشاهدته خلف هذا الباب، يتسرب الضوء من خلفه لينير جزءًا من الحمام يغطي نسبة كبيرة منه ظله، حاول أن يضيء مصباح الحمام ولكنه لا يعمل، وكان أول شيء لاحظه هو هاتف سارة ابنته ملقى في حوض الماء وحوله أعواد ثقاب محترقة ومقص، مد يده وأمسك الهاتف ليحاول فتحه فيتفاجأ بأن الطاقة قد نفدت من بطاريته، وفي تلك اللحظة كانت قد تابعته شادية، ففتح الباب أكثر بسبب اندفاعها خلفه ليكشف الضوء القادم من خلفهما جزء أكبر من الحمام، ولكنه كان جزءًا لا يجب أن يروه نهائيًا، فما أن شاهدته شادية حتى صرخت فزعًا، فالتفت كامل نحوها واكتشف سبب هذا الفزع الجارم، فاحتضنها خوفًا وعيناه تشتدان جحوظًا من رعب ما رأوه."
