يتناول بعض الأساطير والأبحاث التي سجلها المؤرِّخ اليوناني (هيرودوت 480 – 429 ق م )، ونشرت للمحافظة على ذكرى ما فعله عظماء الرجال، والحيلولة دون حرمان الأعمال العظيمة التي أتاها اليونانيون والبرابرة مما تستحقه من تمجيد، وتسجيل الأسباب التي أدت إلى حدوث المنازعات بينهم. وهيرودوت يطلق عليه أول مؤرخ في العالم ، ويؤخذ على كتاباته المبالغة في سرد الحكايات الخرافية ، والقيل والقال والأساطير. لكنَّ التاريخ كعلمٍ يُعْنى بأخبار الماضي، يرجعه الكثيرون إلى عهْد "هيرودوت" الذي ينسب إليه البدْء بفنِّ كتابة أحداث التاريخ ، وبِهذا نقل التَّاريخ من عالم الآلِهة المتعدِّدة “الآلهة البولياديَّة” إلى علم يهتمُّ بِنشاطات البشَر على الأرض.
