يتضمن الكتاب تعريف بالألغاز والأحاجي التي كانت أحدى وسائل المسامرة بين الناس قبل دخول وسائل الإعلام المرئية والمسموعة كالتلفاز والراديو والحاسوب والتلفون الخلوي والستلايت الى حياتنا اليومية، والتي أصبحت ضرورة لا يمكن الإستغناء عنها، وحلت محل ما تعارف عنه الناس في العهود السابقة لها. كانت الحياة الإجتماعية تتميز بالبساطة والروتين، والناس يقضون أوقاتهم في سرد الحكايات الطويلة والأحاجي (الحزورات) والمساجلات الشعرية وقراءة الكتب والمناقشات التي تتعلق بحياتهم الشخصية والأسرية، علاوة على أوضاع البلد الإقتصادية والسياسية، وكان البعض الآخر يقضيها في العاب القمار والشطرنج والدومينو . شمرنا عن ساعدنا وشحذنا البصر، وركزنا التفكير، وغطسنا في بحر كتب التراث للبحث عن اللؤلؤ، فوجدنا في تراث السلف الأعاجيب من القصص والملح والأشعار، فتناولنا بعضها كالحمامات والكدية والخسوف والكسوف والخاتم وألعاب الصبيان وهدهدة الأطفال وغيرها، وأفردنا هذا الكتاب منفصلا عن البقية، وسيجد القاريء الكريم أنواع الألغاز التي تعارف عليها السلف فمنها ما يتعلق بالفقه والشعر والطب والفلك وغيرها، بل ان البعض من روادنا وضع مقامات لغزية كالحرير والهمداني، وختمنا الكتاب بالعديد من الحزورات التي كنا نحرز بها بعضنا البعض وقت الطفوله، نأمل أن نكون قد رفدنا المكتبة العربية عموما والعراقية خصوصا بكتاب جديد، ومبحث تناولة القليل من الكتاب الأفاضل.
