يتميز الكاتب رأفت خليل القادم من غور الأردن في قصصه، أنه كثيرا ما يعود إلى أحداث حقيقية واقعية عايشها في ذلك المكان المنزوي في أعمق بقعة في الأرض، بعيدة عن أنظار واهتمام الكتّاب والمسؤولين، رغم أهميته، إذ يُعتبر سلة غذاء الأردن، وهو الذي يفصلنا عن فلسطين المحتلة، وقد كانت تلك البقعة من الأرض مسرحاً لأحداث كبيرة، ومعارك حاسمة مع الأعداء عبر التاريخ.
المفارقة التي واجهها الكاتب في عمله، أن الكتّاب يكتبون عن تلك المنطقة بما لا يعرفونه ولم يعايشوه، كما في قصة المناضل، إذ يصنعون أمجادا كاذبة، في حين هم يغفلون عن الأمجاد الحقيقية التي يبنيها إنسان تلك المنطقة.
أسلوب الكاتب في قصصه القصيرة يتسق مع طبيعة الحياة في تلك البقعة من الأرض، حيث تسرد الحكايات بكل تفاصيلها، ويبرز فيها البعد الإنساني لأناس ضلوا مهمشين زمنا طويلا.
أما قصصه القصيرة جدا، فيبدو أنها جاءت تطورا، وانعكاسا لتطورات الحياة نفسها، التي باتت تميل إلى الاختزال وتكثيف الفكرة والصورة، وقد تكون انعكاسا لواقع حياة الكاتب الذي انتقل للعيش في أماكن جديدة تتسم الحياة فيها بالسرعة، وتعج بالحركة. القصص تناولت كثيرا من المواقف الإنسانية، عبر مشاهد مختزلة، وعبارات مكثفة، وبعضها تناول الزيف والفساد في المجتمع. ومنها:
غمغمة
«لو بقينا مُعدمين لكنّا في أفضل حال»، غمغمت المطلَّقة وهي تحاول النوم.
معركة
حين احتدَمَت المعركة، أخرج جندي صورة لفتاة جميلة، كان قصّها من صحيفة، ورأى فيها فتاة أحلامه، وحين فكّر أن يقبِّلها، سقطت قذيفة على خندقهم.
موت
قال لي: انظر، تلك التي تنتحب بحرقة والدته، يوم أمس عاد من الجبهة، وصباح اليوم، أمام منزلهم، صدمته سـيارة.
