رواية سجين الزرقة للكاتبة العمانية شريفة التوبي، تتحدث عن مشكلة اجتماعية مسكوت عنها ويرفض المجتمع الاعتراف بها رغم وجودها، إنها عن الأطفال غير الشرعيين الذين يتعرضون للنبذ والازدراء وكذلك عن النساء المرتكبات للجريمة، تأتي الرواية على لسان راشد الابن غير الشرعي الذي أتى نتيجة زنا محارم لفتاة قاصر مع زوج أمها، تبدأ الرواية في اللحظة التي يقرر راشد الهروب فيها من المجتمع والهجرة إلى بلد لا يعرفه ولا يسأله عن أصله وعائلته، والتي سبقه إليها صديقه سالم الشاب الأسود اللقيط الذي لا يُعرف له أماً أو أباً، والذي تربي معه في دار الأيتام، لكن راشد ما يجعله مختلفاً عن بقية الأطفال بالدار أنه عاش مع أمه بالسجن وانتزع منها وعمره خمس سنوات، فهو يتذكر أمه، يتذكر رائحتها ويبقى منتظراً، على أمل أن تفي بوعدها له وتأتي لأخذه من دار الأيتام، لكنها لم تأت ليبقى عمره كله باحثاً عنها، يصارع الحنين ويقاوم ضعفه وعدم شعوره بالانتماء والاحتقار لنفسه مع رفض المجتمع له كإنسان غير شرعي، يتجلى ذلك في معاملة زملائه له بالعمل وكذلك قصة حبه لمريم الذي كسرت جناحه الأخير بعد أن رفضه أبوها لأنه غير معترف به، الصوت الآخر في الرواية صوت الأم الذي يأتي من سطور رسالة يتلقاها راشد في ظرف يسلمها له رجل غريب.
في اليوم الأخير في وطنه بعد أن قرر الهروب، فيبدأ بقراءة الرسالة التي كانت تكشف له أمه فيها الحقائق كلها التي كانت غائبة عنه، وتظهر في حكاية الأم عن حياتها داخل السجن مع نساء دخلن السجن في قضايا مختلفة، لينكشف لراشد وجه آخر للمجتمع الذي رفضه بحجة الفضيلة
