يحاول الشاعر علي الشرقاوي أن يجسّد رمزاً إنسانياً في شخصية الأديبة اللبنانية الشهيرة مي زيادة، بل نكاد نلمَح بعض التلميحات السياسية من خلال سيرتها الذاتية ؛ فماذا كان الشاعر يقصد من استحضار شخصيات أدبية وسياسية كان لها أثر كبير في الحياة المصرية؟ ما هو الرمز الذي يطرحه العقاد؟ما هو المعنى الخفي وراء شخصية سلامة موسى وأحمد لطفي السيد؟
لقد فشل المثقفون الكبار في إنقاذ الأديبة الجميلة مي وكانت نهايتها المصحة العقلية، لقد هرب منها طه حسين واختفى العقاد وإسماعيل صبري، وكل الأقلام الصحفية التي كانت تتابعها وتكتب عنها باستمرار. فهل معنى ذلك سقوط الفكر في مواجهة الموقف؟ هل يعني ذلك أننا جميعاً ساهمنا في اغتيال الجميلة مي؟
