ما يلفت الأنظار في جين إير, ليس المرأة التي تشكل الشخصية الرئيسية فيها , بل ما تميزت به تلك المرأة من استقلالية ونزوع نحو الحرية, ما جعل منها شخصية أنثوية تتحكم بمجرى أحداث الرواية وتفاصيلها.
