مارون بن حنا بن الخوري يوحنا عبّود (1886 - 1962)، كاتب وأديب لبناني كبير.. ولد في عين كفاع (من قرى جبيل).
حياته
في سنواته في المدرسة أبدى ميولا أدبية وتفوق في مجال اللغة العربية كما أصدر في عامه الدراسي الأخير مجلة أدبية أسماها الصاعقة. كان قد بدأ بكتابة القصائد ونشر بعضها في جريدة الروضة. أدخله إلى مدرسة مار يوحنا مارون. التي أمضى فيها أربعة أعوام ولكنه رفض الأستمرار فيها لأن أباه كان يقصد بإلحاقه بها أن يهيأه للحياة الكهنوتية ما رغب عنه مارون ورفضه رفضا قاطعا. بعد ذلك التحق بمدرسة الحكمة حيث أمضى فيها سنتين. وقد وجد مارون في هذه المدرسة الجو المؤاتي لتفتح مواهبه الأدبية كما احتك بعدد من الطلاب المولعين بالشعر أمثلا: رشيد تقي الدين وأحمد تقي الدين وسعيد عقل وغيرهم.
وفاته
توفي مارون عبود عام 1962 عن عمر يناهز السابعة والسبعين.

Book Description
«على الطائر» كتابٌ في النّقد الأدبي قدّمه النّاقد والشّاعر اللبناني مارون عبّود، حيث طلبت منه محطّة الشّرق الأدنى وهي صحيفة هوائيّة كبرى، أن ينقد أحاديثها الأدبيّة، فكان يصغي إلى البرنامج يوميٍّا، ويدوّن ملاحظاته، وبعد خمسة عشر يوم يقوم بكتابة مقالٍ يبعثه به في حينه إلى قبرص.
فكان ناقدها الأدبي يوم كان سمعها صعبًا، ولما سهُل السماع انقطع الحبل، فالصّحافة تعالج الزائل، أما النّقد الأدبي فمعينُه باقٍ، تناول الأحاديث الشعريّة والنثريّة، وتطرّق إلى الأعمال الأدبيّة التي أُنتجت آنذاك، مُقدّمًا آراءَه في إنتاجهم الفنّي، مُعلّقًا على ما لفت انتباهه من ملَكاتٍ أدبيّة، وما أثار حفيظته النّقديّة.
عمل على تقييم الأسلوب الحواري لدى إدارة الحديث الإذاعي، والتّنويه إلى أخطاء لغويّة وقع فيها مقدّمي البرنامج، فأثّر على أداءِ أحاديثهم، وقد جاء ترتيب هذه الأحاديث في الكتاب حسب أسماء الشّخصيّات التي تمّت استضافتها، فشكّل ما يشابه ندوة أدبيّة قوامُها الحوارُ على ورق.
