وكان كتابنا فضائل المدينة لمؤلفه المفَضَّل الجَنَدي المتوفى سنة 308هـ من الكتب الهامة القديمة... تحدث فيه عن حرمتها، والدعاء لأهلها... وفضل مسجدها وغيره من المساجد، ورغبى السكن فيها، ونفي خبثها" وتسميتها (المدينة ويثرب)، ومن أراد بها سوءاً، وغير ذلك.
