Book Description
واقتصر في كتابه بهذه التسمية على خمسة أبواب، وهي: الاستعارة منفرداً بها، فاقتضى كلامه أن من الاستعارة قبيحاً وحسناً، فحسنها من المحاسن، وقبيحها من العيوب، ثم قال بعد سياقه الأبواب الخمسة: ونحن الآن نذكر محاسن الكلام والشعر وإن كانت محاسنهما كثيرة لا ينبغي للعاقل العالم أن يدعي الإحاطة بها حتى يتبرأ من شرود بعضها عن علمه، وأحببنا بذلك أن نكثر فوائد كتابنا للمتأدبين ذكر اعتراض كلام في كلام لم يتم معناه، ثم يعود المتكلم فيتمه في بيت واحد أو جملة واحدة، وهذا الباب سماه قدامة التمام وسماه الحاتمي في الحلية التتميم. وهو مما توارد عليه قدامة، وابن المعتز، ثم ذكر من المحاسن الخروج من معنى إلى معنى، وهو الذي سماه الحاتمي الاستطراد، ناقلاً تسميته لا مخترعاً وهو من أفراد ابن المعتز، ثم ذكر تأكيد المدح بما يشبه الذم منفرداً به وذكر تجاهل العارف، وهو الذي سماه المتأخرون الإعنات والتشكيك وهذه التسمية غير مطابقة من كل وجه، والتشكيك باب مفرد ذكر الهزل الذي يراد به الجد منفرداً به، وذكر حسن التضمين منفرداً به، وذكر الكناية منفرداً بها، وذكر الإفراط في الصفة متوارداً عليها مع قدامة، وسماها قدامة المبالغة، وذكر التشبيه متوارداً هو وقدامة عليه، وذكر عتاب المرء نفسه منفرداً به، وذكر حسن الابتداءات، منفرداً به، وسماه من بعده براعة الاستهلال على اختلاف في شواهده، فهذه اثنا عشر باباً من المحاسن تضاف إلى أبواب البديع الخمسة فيصير بها ما اخترع ابن المعتز جميعه من ذلك سبعة عشر باباً.
