هو عبيد الله بن محمد بن محمد بن حمدان العكبري (بفتح العين، وفتح الباء الموحدة، وقيل: بضم الباء أيضا. والصحيح بفتحها *) كنيته: أبو عبد الله معروف بـ: ابن بَطة (بفتح الباء) المذهب الفقهي: حنبلي
ولادته: وُلد في عكبرا في شهر شوال سنة أربع وثلاثمائة (304 هـ). وفاته: توفي في عكبرا في عاشوراء سنة سبع وثمانين وثلاثمائة (387 هـ). رحلاته: سافر الكثير إلى مكة والثغور والشام والبصرة وغيرها من البلاد.
